Obituary

Denise Louise Dornbrook, age 63, left this earth on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 to join her beloved husband Richard on their 43rd wedding anniversary. Denise was born in Columbus, WI on July 19, 1955 the oldest daughter of James and Bernadine (Schriver) Kasper. She grew up in the Columbus area, and following high school, she met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Dornbrook, who preceded her in death on May 27, 2018. They were married on Oct. 11, 1975. Together, Denise and Dick raised their beautiful and growing family in their home on Main St. in Juneau, WI.

Denise worked as a CNA at Clearview Long-Term Care and Rehabilitation Center for many years. In addition to being an amazing caregiver, Denise also had a passion for creating; she made beautiful Victorian lampshades, which she sold through her small business, "The Shady Lady." She was a skill-full crafter, and hand knitted and crocheted hundreds of mittens, hats, scarves, socks, afghans and sweaters, often starting these projects by carding and spinning her own wool yarn.

Nothing meant more to Denise than her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and made sure to remind them on a regular basis just how special they were. She was a loved and respected member of her community, and touched many, many lives with her kindness, her positive outlook and her unwavering dedication to those that she loved. She had deep faith in God, and was a long-time member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, where she taught a confirmation class for church members with special needs and was a member of the church's prayer chain. Following Dick's death in May, Denise volunteered weekly at the church folding bulletins as way of giving back to her religious community, in spite of her physical limitations.

She was Girl Scout and 4-H leader, a frequent school chaperone and a study hall teacher at the middle school in Reeseville, WI. In addition to being the mother of eight children, she was also an in-home day care provider; a role in which she played mother to dozens of children in the Dodge County area. Denise and Dick also served as foster parents, and their deep love and faith impacted the lives of many.

While Denise faced many health issues and complications, she never complained or felt sorry for herself – instead, she focused on how she could help others and how fortunate she was to have such a loving family.

Denise is survived by her father, James Kasper, her children, Carrie (Roy) Profitt, Joell Dornbrook, Kadie (Michael) Becker, Kristi (Alex) Hartzheim, Bryan Dornbrook and Amy Patterson, all of Beaver Dam, WI, Jason Dornbrook, of Madison, WI and seven grandchildren: Jordan Weinberger, Roy Profitt V, Alexandria Hubred, Megan Becker, Ella Dornbrook, Karter and Kleyton Hartzheim; siblings Douglas Kasper, Beth Brace, Mark (Cindy Meinke) Kasper and Patti Soter. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Destiny Chase, her mother, Bernadine Kasper, her husband, Richard Dornbrook, and her brother, Thomas Kasper.

A visitation will be held at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 311 W. Mackie St., Beaver Dam, WI on Monday, October 15 from 4:00 – 7:00p.m. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. The Reverend Bob Moberg will officiate. Inurnment will take place at the Rosendale Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Denise's family would like to extend a special thank you for the wonderful care she received for the last 12 years at the Beaver Dam Dialysis Center, and for the caregivers that allowed her to remain in her home over the years.
