Obituary

Gilbert "Gibby" Ernest Geschke, age 85, of Mayville, returned to his heavenly home on Friday, April 13 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 19 at 12 noon at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18 from 3 – 7 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy and again on Thursday, April 19 from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12 noon. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.

Gibby was born August 22, 1932 in Theresa, WI. to Harry Sr. and Leona (Wendegatz) Geschke. He grew up on a farm in Theresa, WI where he learned to work the fields with a team of horses, milk cattle, raise chickens and cause trouble. Gibby married the love of his life, Elaine on June 2, 1951 at St. Andrews Church in Leroy, WI. In 1957 Gibby and Elaine purchased the Sternat farm near LeRoy and remained there for 46 years. Gibby also worked for Guelig Construction in Hartford for 43 years. He enjoyed playing cards, polka dancing, working the fields, maintaining his herd, and just living life.

Survivors include his loving wife, of 66 years Elaine (Sternat), Mayville, his 13 children, Larry, Colorado Springs, CO, Parry, Mayville, Greg, Campbellsport, Victoria Liebenow, (Larry), Mayville, Sheila Schultz, (Mark) Waupun, Kristine Hoerth, (Todd), Oconomowoc, Mark, (Patricia), Mayville, Terese Schroeder, (Bob) Mayville, Donna, Mayville, Lee, (special friend Cathy), Mayville, Mary Billings, (Ron), Theresa, Renee Junod, Mayville, Lisa Jameson, (Tim) of Madison. 31 grandchildren; Jeremy, Hope, Tim, Heather, Heidi, Ryan, Holly, Matthew, Mason, Chad, Eric, Scott, Nicole, Jason, Dawn, Michael, Travis, Mario, Tyler, Cody, Kayla, Dustin, Eliott, Devin, Cassidy, Devin, Derrick, Brett, Morgan, Nathan & Austin 45 great grandchildren; Aliccia, Marisa, Echo, Rider, Hailyn, Kodi, Sadie, Anthony, Jacob, Jayden, Johnny, Marcos, Carlos, Shyanne, Lilyana, Aryana. Kayli, Nathan, Isaiah, Helayna, Julian, Tanner, Aspen, Greyden, Kellen, Kianna, Deacon, Tristen, Colorado, Tyler, Justice, Shelby, Jakob, Keegan, Gracelyn, Alyson, Gage, Hunter, Logan, Caden, Makenna, Amber, Arianna, Dreyson & Aubrey. 7 great-great grandchildren; Aihanna, Alexavier, Apollo, Jessiah, Kyrie, Jouscia, Maison. Further survived by his sister-in-laws Eunice Krivonak, Mary Jane Sternat, Patty Sternat, Caroline Sternat, Darlene Sternat and Marge Geschke. Brother-in-law Jerry Sternat.

Gibby was preceded in death by his parents Harry Sr. and Leona (Wendegatz) Geschke. His in-laws Rudolf and Irene (Rost) Sternat. One son, Jeffrey. His brothers, Harry Jr., Waldemar, Ray and Charlie. His brother-in-laws, Merlin Sternat, Rudy Sternat Jr., Earl Sternat, Arnold Sternat, Norbert Sternat and Ed Krivonak. Sister-in-laws, Rosalind Geschke, Patricia Geschke, Sherri Geschke, Gladys Sternat, Madeline Sternat, and Barb Sternat. An infant great granddaughter, Macy.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Agnes Hospital and the Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac for their care and support shown to Gibby and his family.
